Numerical simulation of masonry walls strengthened with vegetal fabric reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM) composites and subjected to cyclic loads

The growing concern for the preservation of old buildings and wide use masonry in construction civil works has led to a great development specific techniques strengthen structures. FRCM (fabric reinforced cementitious matrix) vegetal fibres arises as strengthening option be considered because low cost, density, recyclability biodegradability brought by fibres. In this study, numerical models were used represent walls unreinforced strengthened with (hemp, cotton glass). model presents new way simulation systems their failure pattern. This was validated comparison previous experimental analytical results. Results showed that proposed is an effective calculation tools reproduce maximum shear subjected cyclic loads, variations between 7 15% respect analytical. also useful hysteresis behavior, although some inability reversible crack opening-closing observed tests.
